Welcome to the Laboratory of Sridev Mohapatra
The major focus of my laboratory is on understanding the mechanisms involved in the interaction between plants and beneficial soil bacteria (plant growth promoting rhizobacteria or PGPR) for abiotic stress tolerance in plants. PGPR are a group of soil bacteria that associate with plant roots and help these plants in myriad ways as shown below.

We use model systems -Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa etc. and a variety of soil bacteria to answer some fundamental questions about the molecular mechanisms underlying such beneficial interaction.
